Kam Heger is regarded as being the cornerstone for the sudden rise in Western State volleyball. Heger attended Western from 1996 to 99 and during that time took a downtrodden program to one of the best in the RMAC and the Region. Heger was Western’s first NCAA Division II All-Region performer, earning the honor three times (1997-99) as a sophomore, junior and senior. Heger was also a three-time First Team All-RMAC performer and finished second in the RMAC Player of the Year voting as a junior. At the time, Heger set school records for both kills and blocks in a match. During her career at Western, Heger’s squads went a combined 73-53 and came away with the school’s first and second 20 win seasons and first Regional Tournament appearance.
