Jacoby was the school’s first two-sport All-American, earning the highest NAIA honors in track and field and football in 1981. Jacoby attended Western from 1978-83 and was an immediate impact as soon as he set foot on the Gunnison campus. In track and field, Jacoby finished second in the RMAC shot put as a freshman and then won the event the next three years. A four-time National Qualifier in the shot put, Jacoby earned NAIA All-American honors in 1981 with a fifth place finish. Jacoby also finished third in the RMAC discus competition as a senior and still holds Western’s shot put record with a toss of 55-10. In football, Jacoby was a four-year letterman and a three-year starter on the Western State defensive line. Jacoby led the Mountaineers in sacks as a junior and sacks and tackles as a senior, earning All-RMAC honors both years. In 1981 as a senior, Jacoby earned National Player of the Week honors and was named NAIA All-American.
