J.W. Campbell served as the Mountaineer S.I.D. for 25 years before retiring in 1998. He had worked for WSC since 1961 in a variety of capacities, including assistant to the president. In 1999, Campbell was honored at the College Sports Information Directors Association for 25 Years of Service and Lifetime Achievement. Campbell passed away in March 2000 at the age of 65.
