Dr. Lynn Levy originally played on the gridiron for Western’s football team upon his arrival in 1949. But after one year he traded his cleats for skis and would made his mark not only at Western, but also on the international stage. Levy would eventually finish fourth in cross country skiing and fifth in jumping at the 1953 all-divisions NCAA championship. The next season Levy added a top-four finish in Nordic Combined at the NCAA event and would earn a spot on the 1954 U.S. World Championship team. Two years later, Levy earned a well-earned spot on the U.S. Olympic team that competed at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Obviously a multi-sport athlete, Levy also has the distinction of being the winner of the inaugural W-Mountain Race in 1951.
