Craig Otto remains a continued presence with the Western Colorado wrestling program, following an illustrious career for the Mountaineers. He is one of 11 three-time NCAA Division II All-Americans in the 72-year history of the program. In three NCAA tournaments, Otto finished seventh in 1995, fifth in 1997, and third in 1998. The 1997 Colorado Collegiate Champion, he was part of that year’s American wrestling squad that toured Bulgaria and Columbia. Otto would join the coaching staff in 1998, continuing to work with the program to this day. Through his tenure, Otto has helped produce nine teams that finished in the top 10 at the NCAA D-II tournament, six individual D-II national champions, 15 individual national finalists; and 59 NCAA D-II All-Americans. The 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2019 squads he helped coach were NCAA D-II Super Region IV and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference champions, and in 2017 the Mountaineers were the NCAA D-II Academic National Champions, a year after earning the 2016 NWCA Academic National Championship.
