Bill Andreas was the first Mountaineer to ever win a league scoring title. He led the Rocky Mountain Conference in 1941 and was selected as a first team all-conference player for the 1940-41 season. The Mountaineers posted a 13-10 record that season, the second highest win total in school history to that point. Andreas received his B.A. from Western State College in 1942 and served with the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He returned to the basketball team for the last half of the 1945-46 campaign, the Mountaineers’ first after a three-year hiatus because of the war.
